She was born, just like any normal human. Ellen lived and grew up
in an average household in a typical American suburb. Her parents
were staunch Catholics, but were nevertheless loving and caring
towards her, for she was their only child. She grew up like any
normal child would, studying in school, playing with the
neighbourhood kids she befriended, and attending church with her
parents every sunday. but the truth is, Ellen was far from...
normal. Upon entering her teens, she started seeing things... things
that weren't originally there, yet they seemed and felt so real. The
frequent hallucinations kept up, and Ellen found her social life
greatly affected, and slipped further and further away from reality.
As time passed, it only grew worse, and people around her started
seeing and hearing things that didn't exist too, creating confusion
wherever she went. Her parents tried to do something, and therefore
sought the neighbourhood priest's advice after psychiatrists and
doctors failed to alleviate their daughter's condition; who simply
stated that their girl Ellen is a demon child, whose soul already
belonged to The Devil at the very moment of her birth - and tragedy
will befall those who stay with her for too long. Ellen's mother
could not believe her ears, the revelation hit her like a hammer,
and was left in a depressed and apathetic state for a few weeks.
Ellen's father, however, felt that he needed to do SOMETHING about
this "demon", and came up with a drastic measure(I'd say he's the
one who's demon-possessed); despite the mother's protests, he came
up to his daughter with an axe in his hands; and told her to make
two choices - either to die by his blade, or to run as far as her
feet could carry her(perhaps indicating a shred of emotion still
remains.) Ellen ran, under the stormy skies and with her mother's
tearful pleas ringing in her ears. Too exhausted to continue
running, she simply dropped to her knees under an old elm tree. Her
mind ran through those traumatic moments she's lived out in recent
years, and her mind ran to God, whom she knows to be the merciful
and all-powerful one. Ellen believes in God, and prayed... she asked
Him to take her elsewhere, to someplace where she would be accepted.
The next moment was beyond her wildest imaginations - whether it be
a freak coincidence, or truly an act of God - a lightning bolt
struck the tree, ripping it apart with a tremendous explosion. Ellen
wasn't harmed by this explosion; instead it threw her into a gash in
the fabric of reality. It took her to... Khazan. Landing in a
section of Khazan City with a bad reputation, she found herself
attacked by a gang of delinquent youths. However, the illusions that
have plagued her all these years came again, this time to save her.
Unknown to herself, she actually possesses metahuman abilities. Her
attackers fled, pursued by an imaginary grizzly bear. Her abilities
caught the interest of two smalltime crooks named Ricky and Pretzel,
who saw her innate abilities as a quick ticket to money. With some
nice words, and treating her to a meal, they convinced her to live
with them, and taught her how to use those abilities of hers. Soon,
she was helping(sometimes wooed with sweet words, sometimes
intimidated, she knows what she's doing is wrong, but feels that she
owes them too much to disobey their wishes) Ricky and Pretzel in
their daily pickpocketing sprees, and they were "kind" enough to
share their booty with Ellen. As she grows accustomed to her powers,
the crooks got bolder - and one day, they decided to rob a
multiversal bank. The plan was simple; Ellen confuses everyone with
her illusions, and they simply rush in and help themselves to the
money. This was when the girl came to her sense; all these months,
she was actually a criminal accomplice! She decided to back out,
much to their ire. They wouldn've simply beaten her to death, until
the SLJer Uberman showed up just in time, and kicked Ricky and
Pretzel's asses. Ellen helped by bearing witness and confessing to
the crimes she commited while she was with them. As she was clearly
misguided and used by the bad eggs, no charges were pressed against
her while the two were thrown behind bars. The truth is that Ellen
always has a strong sense of justice, and will stand for what is
right. Seeing her hidden potential, Ellen was offered a chance to
join the SLJ. She gladly accepted, and under the SLJers, she was
taught and trained in the ways of righteousness and how to master
the use of her powers. She's currently a part-timer, studying as a
high school student, and rushing to help the SLJ (mostly in office
and adminstrative work, occasionally as a scout/spy) whenever she's
free. Though lacking in experience, she's learning as fast as she
could, and simply loves the SLJ and their friendly(mostly) members,
whom she sees as a second family, one that takes the place of the
family she's lost...

Personality: When the SLJ first found her, Ellen was
effectively a 14-year old in the body of an 18-year old. Four years
of being plagued by her own illusions and being used by two thieves
has greatly stunted her social life and mental development. Under
the SLJ, however, she's gradually brightening up, and rapidly
catching up on her mental and emotional development, and has shown
that she's born as the smart type. Friendly and receptive, she's
always there to congratulate and affirm her fellow SLJers for a job
well-done after a hard day of crimefighting with a tray of milk and
cookies and heaping on the praises. Hates violence and fighting, but
she can nevertheless be counted upon to fight bravely for all that
is good, should the need arise.

- Power: Smoke
Screen
- Level:Ultimate
- Kit Power Link: Inventor
- Area Effect This attack causes damage in a large area.
- Ranged and Melee Attack! Attack is equally effective at range
and up close.
SLJer Field Report 01:
This is the first of a series of performance reports on our new SLJer.
This girl, Ellen, I believe she possesses an uncanny ability to manipulate
reality. To be more precise, it's the ability to manipulate others'
PERCEPTION of reality. Appears to me she can generate a reality bubble of
sorts around herself or others, and as long as a body is encased within
this "reality bubble", it cannot be preceived by sight or hearing; even
hyper senses fail to penetrate this absolute region of non-reality. She
has been known to surround herself in one such bubble, enter a mafia
hideout, and soon emerged with the stolen documents. None of the gangsters
or security systems ever saw or heard her coming. I have decided to call
this ability a "De-perception Field" -- Dr. Anderson, AoC Fatality Rescue
Team

- Power: Illusion
Creation
- Level:Ultimate
- Kit Power Link: Inventor
- Auto-Hit This mental attack hits the target automatically,
but may or may not effect them.

Field Report 02: Another interesting ability of Ellen's "reality bubbles",
or De-perception Fields as Dr. Anderson would put it. Not only does it
prevent others from perceiving the user, it can even warp their perception
of reality, generating sights, sounds, smells and sensations that don't
really exist. What she can create is really left up to her imagination;
people, monsters, machines, events; even entire landscapes(limited to
let's say, an average-sized room), and they appear and feel as close to
the real thing you'll ever find, to the point that it affects all five
senses. She once infiltrated a band of terrorists disguised as their
leader, and you guessed it; by using this very power. -- SLJ leader,
Uberman

Mental? Not Exactly...Immunity:
Mental D |
SLJer Field
Report 03: As mentioned before, Ellen has the ability to manipulate
others' perception of reality. This is not done through psionics or any
known mental attacks, but rather through some unknown tampering with the
opponent's surrounding reality. As such, mental defenses fail to protect
them from her illusions. They simply offer no resistance, due to the very
nature of her attacks. -- SLJ member, Nurse Helia
 |
Closed Mind? Duh...Immunity:
Closed Mind |
SLJer Field
Report 04: Her illusions are neither mental or psionic in nature; normally
if one can sufficiently block out their minds to the outside world, or
possesses an alien or unusual mind, they'd be safe from mental attacks.
The only problem is; Ellen's illusions are not psionic in nature, and
therefore cannot be defended using any of the conventional means we know
of. -- SLJ leader, Uberman

Out of Necessity...
|
Ellen's own
words: I'm finally getting the hang of it! *Hee hee.* I'm not much of a
fighter, so I need to rely on brains rather than brawn. I've since learned
how to use my de-perception field to their utmost effectiveness, and often
incorporates complex battleplans and strategies into their usage. Through
careful planning, I could simply sneak in and out behind enemy lines,
using my powers to avoid detection and at the same time, create confusion
among the enemies, often turning them against one another or knocking
themselves out in a state of confusion and other stuff I've so carefully
planned, and most of the time, those plans work. *Hee Hee* Though
sometimes I just can't resist playing little tricks on my fellow SLJers;
you should've seen the look on Capt. Khazan's face when I placed that
illusionary Mr. Graves in his office, and later finding out it was just a
pen holder surrounded by my de-perception field. This can be fun at times,
but I try not to go overboard...

Nervous Breakdown
|
- Power: Mind
Blast
- Level:Standard
- Ranged Attack Attack usable at a distance (only).
SLJer Field Report 05: This is really a
side-effect of Ellen's de-perception field. When you've got your five
senses trapped in an illusionary world that is a de-perception field,
everything seems so real, be it pleasant or nasty experiences...
therefore, any of the illusionary attacks made on an opponent can be quite
a traumatic experience, enough to cause a mental shock which would damage
weaker minds, while stronger minds are just somewhat shaken. -- Dr.
Anderson, AoC Fatality Rescue Team and SLJ member
